A pedestrian has suffered serious injuries following a collision with a bus in Exeter city centre. The collision happened on Cheeke Street on Sunday afternoon and led to the road being closed for more than two hours.

The crash involved a single-decker bus and a pedestrian in Exeter. The pedestrian, a man in 30s from Exeter, sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for information and witnesses to the collision. They are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are asking for motorists with relevant dashcam footage to contact them.

A spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious collision involving a single-decker bus and a pedestrian in Exeter. Officers were called around 4.10pm on Sunday, April 7, to reports of the incident on Cheeke Street.

“The pedestrian, a man in 30s from Exeter, sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The road was closed for around two-and-a-half hours while an investigation was carried out at the scene.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and asking for any witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage to contact them. If you are able to assist please contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting log 484 of 7 April.”
