A Devon DJ has been inspired to host a dedicated night out in Exeter for 'more mature' music lovers who don't want to be surrounded by students and young clubbers. Just before Valentine's Day, Glow of Love - an evening of '80s soul, disco and rare groove - is coming to The Bunker in Castle Street this Saturday, February 10, from 8pm until midnight.

The venue can be found in the basement of Castle Street Sports and Entertainment in Little Castle Street which is run by neighbouring nightclub Timepiece. The evening is being organised by Aldo Vanucci who is based in Plymouth and performs weekly DJ sets in the city as well as Exeter, Falmouth, and occasional events in the south west.

He said: "The night was started as all I hear from people over 30 is there is nowhere to go dancing to the music they love. Most people say that once they hit about 30 they don’t want to be surrounded by youngsters.

"I think Exeter is a healthy scene for clubs and bars with both commercial and underground sounds represented. The whole industry is quieter than it used to be as since Covid, numbers have dropped significantly. We tried an Over 25s night just before Christmas and it was well received and people asked for us to do it again soon.

"If the demand is there we will put on regularly. The DJs are myself and JSR. We previously worked together at Timepiece for 20 years.

"The music will be a blend of '80s soul, disco and some rare groove and mostly well-known classic tunes that people will know."

The Bunker is often used as a private party space underground. It has a capacity of 180 with its own bar, own bathroom and a high-quality sound system.

Tickets for Glow of Love cost from £5. For more details, please click here.
